Model: Seiko SAGV001 “HAQ Perpetual Calendar Big Date” (2005)

Overview:
A high-end Brightz model featuring a complex HAQ perpetual calendar movement with big date display, housed in a lightweight titanium case.

History:
Released in the early 2000s as part of Seiko’s JDM Brightz lineup, the SAGV001 represents one of the more technically advanced quartz offerings outside of Grand Seiko.

Powered by the 7D48 High Accuracy Quartz movement, the watch features a perpetual calendar with big date, leap-year indicator, month display, and a 24-hour sub-dial. The dial is finished with a distinctive checkered guilloché pattern, a texture seldom seen across Seiko models.

Similar dial patterns can be found on rarer references such as the SAGV005 and SARB026, both of which have historically commanded higher prices, further highlighting the uniqueness of the SAGV001.

Retailing for well over $1,000 USD at the time, this model sat within the higher end of Seiko’s domestic lineup.
