Up for sale is a classic vintage Seiko Lord Matic featuring the elegant White Linen Dial, powered by Seiko’s automatic Caliber 5606.
The dial is distinguished by its finely crosshatched linen texture, adding considerable depth to what would otherwise be a traditional white dress dial. Depending on the lighting, the textured surface transitions between crisp white, silver and warmer off-white tones, while the applied indices and polished hands reflect light sharply across the dial.
History:
The Lord Matic collection became one of Seiko’s important mechanical lines during the late 1960s and 1970s, positioned as a refined range of automatic watches with an enormous variety of dial textures, case designs and configurations.
This example is powered by Seiko’s Caliber 5606, part of the highly regarded 56-series automatic movement family. Its combination of a relatively slim automatic architecture, day-date display and quickset calendar made the movement particularly well suited to the refined Lord Matic collection.

The White Linen Dial represents one of the most classically styled executions of the vintage Lord Matic. While considerably more restrained than the rarer colored Linen variants, the intricate crosshatched texture gives the dial an impressive amount of depth and allows its appearance to change noticeably under different lighting.
One important point: I would double-check the stated December 1966 production date before publishing the listing. The Lord Matic line and Caliber 5606 are generally associated with the late 1960s onward, so a “6D” serial on a 5606 Lord Matic is more likely to indicate December 1976 than December 1966. I would not advertise it as a 1966 example without confirming the full case reference and serial number.
