Model: Seiko 7018-5000 “Monaco” (1972)
Overview:
One of Seiko's most distinctive early automatic chronographs, the 7018-5000 is nicknamed the “Monaco” by collectors for its unusual square TV-shaped case and resemblance to the famous Heuer Monaco of the same era.
History:
Produced for a relatively short period in the early 1970s, the 7018-5000 is considerably less common than Seiko's better-known 6139 and 6138 chronographs.
Inside is the Daini-produced Caliber 7018A, an impressively thin automatic chronograph movement featuring a vertical clutch, column wheel and flyback function. The flyback allows the running chronograph to be instantly reset and restarted with a single press.
