History:
The original Oris Big Crown Pointer Date was introduced in 1938, designed with an oversized crown that could be easily operated by pilots wearing gloves. Rather than using a conventional date aperture, Oris incorporated a central pointer hand that indicates the date around the outer perimeter of the dial, a feature that would become synonymous with the Big Crown collection.

Released in 2018 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the design, this special edition pairs the historic architecture with a bronze case and deep green dial. As the bronze naturally oxidizes, each case develops an individual patina that changes with age and wear, making every example increasingly unique.
