The King Seiko 5626-7040 is a beautifully proportioned example of Seiko’s high-grade mechanical watchmaking from the early 1970s. This particular example features the blue dial, which takes on different shades of blue depending on the surrounding light.

History:
Manufactured in 1970 at Seiko’s Suwa factory in Japan, the 5626-7040 belongs to the 56KS generation of King Seiko. This was an important period in Seiko history, when King Seiko and Grand Seiko represented the upper levels of the company’s domestic mechanical watchmaking.

The 56KS series paired high-frequency automatic movements with thin, sharply faceted cases characteristic of Seiko’s design language during the period. The 5626 configuration additionally incorporated both day and date displays, combining the refinement of King Seiko with the practicality expected from an everyday watch.
