Model: Grand Seiko SBGY035 “Karasawa” – Manual Wind Spring Drive Caliber 9R 20th Anniversary Limited Edition
Overview: The SBGY035 is one of Grand Seiko’s more striking modern manual-wind Spring Drive releases, pairing the elegant 38.5mm case with a deeply textured red gradient dial inspired by the Hotaka mountain range during an autumn sunrise. Dark red around the perimeter gradually gives way to a brighter center, complemented by a rose gold GS logo and seconds hand. Limited to just 700 pieces worldwide, the SBGY035 combines the ever so popular Shunbun aonohana dial texture with an almost Fume like color gradient combined with a very well proportioned case.
History: Released in 2024 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9R Spring Drive family, the SBGY035 takes its inspiration from the autumn landscape surrounding the Hotaka mountain range in Shinshu, the region where Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive watches are produced. The dial pattern mimics the Japanese mountain surface ( trees ), while its red gradation represents the landscape emerging from darkness under the morning sun ( Autumn foliage is red ). Production was limited to 700 pieces worldwide, with 300 allocated to Japan. Its original Japanese retail price was ¥1,166,000.
