Grand Seiko SBGR299, a modern mechanical Grand Seiko from the Heritage Collection that combines the brand’s traditional design language with a larger and more contemporary 42mm case.
The watch features a beautifully understated silver sunray dial complemented by Grand Seiko’s sharply faceted applied indices, highly polished hands and a striking tempered blue seconds hand. The absence of a date window gives the dial an exceptionally clean and symmetrical appearance, allowing the quality of the hands, indices and finishing to take center stage.
History:
Introduced in 2017, the SBGR299 belongs to the generation that accompanied Grand Seiko’s transition into a fully independent global luxury brand. Its design deliberately retains the fundamental elements associated with Grand Seiko while increasing the case size to give the watch greater wrist presence.
At its heart is the mechanical Caliber 9S61, a three-hand automatic movement without a date complication. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 72 hours of power reserve, the movement allows the SBGR299 to maintain the simplicity of a traditional three-hand watch while offering the practicality expected from a modern Grand Seiko.
