This particular example was purchased directly in Ginza after successfully securing the opportunity to purchase the watch through the allocation process.

The centerpiece is its striking blue “Ginza Grid” dial, whose intricate geometric pattern represents the streets of Ginza as viewed from above. The combination of its vivid blue coloration and layered grid texture causes the dial to change dramatically as light travels across its surface.

History:
Released on July 15, 2023, the SBGH315 was created as that year’s special Ginza Limited Edition. Ginza holds particular significance to Grand Seiko and Seiko as the area where founder Kintaro Hattori established his business in 1881.

The dial was inspired by Ginza on a clear morning, with its rich blue coloration representing the blue skies and their reflections across the district’s buildings. Overlaid across the stamped geometric dial is Grand Seiko’s distinctive Ginza Grid pattern, representing the irregular arrangement of streets that defines the district when viewed from above.

Production was limited to just 400 pieces, with the watch available only through six physical retailers in Ginza and not through Grand Seiko’s online boutique. Its original Japanese retail price was ¥847,000.
