Overview: The SBGH267, commonly known among collectors as the “Whirlpool,” is one of Grand Seiko’s most distinctive modern limited editions. The dial is covered in an intricate spiral pattern composed of repeating Grand Seiko “GS” and vintage “Daini” logos. Limited to just 1,500 pieces worldwide, the SBGH267 combines this highly recognizable dial with Grand Seiko’s Hi-Beat 36,000 movement and the classic 44GS-inspired case.
History: Introduced in 2018 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9S mechanical movement, the SBGH267 was part of a trio of anniversary models created to celebrate two decades of modern Grand Seiko mechanical watchmaking. The blue Whirlpool quickly became the best-known of the three and has since developed a strong following among collectors. Its dial pays tribute to Grand Seiko’s history through a repeating motif incorporating the modern “GS” emblem alongside the mark of the historic Daini Seikosha manufacture, where the original 1968 Hi-Beat Grand Seiko was developed.
