Overview:
The Credor GCAT989 is a particularly distinctive model from Credor's late-2000s catalogue, released in 2008 as part of the 24/7 collection.

Despite measuring only approximately 36mm wide and an exceptionally slim 5.5mm thick, the GCAT989 has considerably more wrist presence than its dimensions suggest. Its elegant proportions are contrasted by an elaborate integrated stainless-steel bracelet composed of numerous individually faceted surfaces, giving the watch an unusual combination of dress and sports-watch characteristics.

The dial is equally impressive, featuring the distinctive Arabic numeral typography associated with the Credor 24/7 collection. On the GCAT989, these numerals are rendered in mother-of-pearl, contrasting beautifully against the deep, glossy black dial underneath.

History:
The 24/7 collection belonged to Credor's Node family and was created around a particularly simple philosophy: a luxury watch designed to be worn 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Rather than designing specifically for formal or casual environments, Credor intended the collection to transition naturally between both. The same watch could accompany its owner through a professional setting, an evening occasion or a casual day spent with family.

This philosophy helps explain the unusual construction of the GCAT989. Its exceptionally thin case and compact dimensions are firmly rooted in traditional dress-watch design, yet Credor paired them with a substantial integrated bracelet more reminiscent of a luxury sports watch.

Released in 2008, the GCAT989 sat toward the higher end of "Credor's quartz offerings", with an original retail price equivalent to more than US$3,000 at the exchange rates of the period.
