Model: Seiko SBCJ031 Alpinist (2005)
Overview:
A rarer variation within the SBCJ lineup, the SBCJ031 combines titanium construction with a cream dial and Arabic numerals paired with a leather strap offering a slightly more classic take on the Alpinist design.
History:
Released in 2005, the SBCJ031 is the only full titanium Alpinist variation since the lines inception in the 1960's, powered by the 8F56 GMT Perpetual Calendar movement, One of the few models to bear the "Alpinist" logo on its dial.
Cream dial as opposed to the 021's full lume dial, features arabic numerals.
The only variant within the SBCJ line to not come with a bracelet, instead came on a leather strap ( which are often deteriorated due to aging as a 20+ year old watch )
Movement (Perpetual Calendar Function):
Powered by the Seiko 8F56 GMT Perpetual Calendar movement.
The movement tracks the month, date, and leap years internally. By pulling out and pushing back the crown, the seconds hand indicates the number of years since the last leap year, while the date hand advances to display the current month.
