Model: Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SSA345J1 “Espresso Martini”
Overview:
Up for sale is the Seiko Presage SSA345J1 “Espresso Martini,” one of the original models introduced in 2017 as part of Seiko’s internationally released Presage Cocktail Time collection.
Taking its inspiration from the Espresso Martini, the watch features a beautifully executed dark radial sunburst dial that glimmers dramatically under changing light. Depending on the angle and environment, the dial transitions between silver, graphite, charcoal and near-black, giving it considerably more depth than its restrained color palette initially suggests.
Unlike the simpler three-hand Cocktail Time models, the SSA345J1 is powered by Seiko’s Caliber 4R57, adding a central power-reserve indicator across the upper portion of the dial and a pointer-date sub-dial at 6 o’clock.
History:
The SSA345J1 was part of the original eight-model Cocktail Time collection announced at Baselworld in 2017. This collection was significant because it brought the Cocktail Time concept to Seiko’s international Presage lineup, following the success of the original Japanese-market Cocktail Time watches that had developed a strong following among collectors.
Seiko divided the initial collection between simpler three-hand models powered by the 4R35 and more complicated models powered by the 4R57. The SSA345J1 belongs to the latter group, combining the characteristic Cocktail Time dial finishing with a central power-reserve display and pointer date.
The dial itself is an important part of the Cocktail Time identity. Seiko used a deeply pressed radial pattern together with seven layers of gloss finishing to create the shimmering appearance and considerable visual depth for which these early Presage Cocktail Time models became known.

The SSA345J1 represents an important early chapter in the modern Presage Cocktail Time story, being one of the original eight models introduced when Seiko brought the concept to its international Presage collection in 2017.
Its Espresso Martini dial is particularly impressive in person. What can appear to be a relatively simple charcoal dial in subdued lighting transforms under direct light, revealing the deeply pressed radial pattern and shifting through shades of silver, graphite and dark charcoal.
The 4R57 also makes this one of the more interesting configurations from the original collection. Its sweeping central power-reserve display and pointer date at 6 o’clock add considerable mechanical and visual interest while retaining the distinctive elegance of the Cocktail Time design.
This example comes with its original Seiko box, warranty card, OEM strap and OEM buckle. As the original leather strap has naturally aged, the watch is currently fitted to an aftermarket strap for regular wear, which will also be included with the watch.
