Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SARY159 “Honeycomb” Limited Edition
Model: Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SARY159 “Honeycomb” STAR BAR Limited Edition
Overview:
Seiko Presage SARY159 “Honeycomb,” a STAR BAR Limited Edition featuring one of the more unusual textured dials found within the Cocktail Time collection.
Rather than using the familiar radial sunburst pattern associated with most Cocktail Times, the SARY159 features an intricate honeycomb-pattern dial composed of repeating hexagonal cells. The individual sections use subtly different finishes, creating a dial that can appear relatively understated from a distance before revealing considerably more texture and detail under direct light.
The warm champagne and honey-gold accents are paired with an open-heart display at 9 o’clock, providing a view of the mechanical movement underneath.
History:
The SARY159 was created as part of Seiko Presage's ongoing collaboration with Hisashi Kishi of STAR BAR in Ginza, Tokyo.
Its design was inspired by Kishi's original “Honeycomb” cocktail, which itself has a particularly interesting connection to Ginza. The cocktail was made using honey harvested in Ginza through the Ginza Honey Bee Project, bringing the inspiration for the watch directly back to the Tokyo district shared by both Seiko and STAR BAR.
Seiko carried the concept directly onto the dial. Rather than simply using a honey-like golden color, the surface was decorated with a repeating hexagonal honeycomb pattern, with variations in finishing between the individual cells creating additional depth.
Although the SARY159 was produced as a fairly large limited edition production number of 6000, due to its cult following it is rare to find one available online on the grey market, especially in new condition.
