Model: Omega Speedmaster Reduced Ref. 3510.50

Overview:
Omega Speedmaster Reduced 3510.50, the compact automatic interpretation of one of the most recognizable chronograph designs ever produced.

At approximately 39mm, the Speedmaster Reduced retains the unmistakable visual identity of the classic Speedmaster while offering considerably more compact proportions and the convenience of an automatic movement. Its black dial, white baton hands, triple-register chronograph layout and black tachymeter bezel create the quintessential monochromatic Speedmaster aesthetic in a case particularly well suited to smaller and medium-sized wrists.

This example has recently been serviced and is running well, making it ready for regular wear.

History:
Introduced in 1988, the Speedmaster Reduced was created as a smaller automatic alternative to the manually wound Speedmaster Professional. Rather than simply shrinking the Moonwatch, Omega developed a distinct model with its own movement architecture and subtly different dial proportions.

One of the easiest visual distinctions is the spacing of the sub-dials. On the Reduced, the three registers sit farther from the center of the dial, while the running-seconds register at 3 o’clock and chronograph registers at 6 and 9 o’clock give the watch its characteristic layout.

The 3510.50 would remain an important part of the Speedmaster collection for many years before eventually being discontinued, and today represents one of the most recognizable neo-vintage automatic Speedmasters.

Closing Note:
The 3510.50 occupies an interesting position within the history of the Speedmaster. It delivers virtually all of the visual cues associated with the classic black-dial Speedmaster twisted lugs, tachymeter bezel, Hesalite crystal and triple-register chronograph layout, but packages them into a more compact 39mm automatic watch.

The smaller dimensions are arguably one of the model's greatest strengths today. The Reduced wears noticeably more compactly than the 42mm Speedmaster Professional while retaining enough wrist presence to unmistakably look and feel like a Speedmaster.

With production now discontinued, the 3510.50 has also become an increasingly popular entry point into neo-vintage Omega collecting. This recently serviced example combines the classic monochromatic Speedmaster design with an automatic movement and highly wearable proportions, making it an excellent everyday alternative to the traditional Moonwatch.
