Overview:
The Credor GZAR997 is an exceptionally rare Wako limited edition that brings together two names whose histories are inseparably connected: Credor and Ginza's legendary luxury retailer Wako 「和光」.

Limited to only 30 pieces, the GZAR997 takes the elegant proportions of Credor's ultra-thin quartz dress watches and gives the design a distinctly Wako character through its unusual dial.

Instead of the minimalist baton-marker layouts typically associated with comparable Credor models, the GZAR997 uses classical Roman numerals, transforming the appearance of the watch while retaining its slim case and unexpectedly sporty stainless-steel bracelet.

History:
The relationship between Seiko and Wako stretches back to the very foundations of both companies.

Kintaro Hattori established Hattori Tokeiten in 1881. In 1894, he acquired and renovated a building at the corner of Ginza 4-chome and constructed the first clock tower above it. Hattori Tokeiten officially began operating from the location in January 1895.

A new building was eventually planned, but construction was interrupted by the Great Kantō Earthquake of 1923. Work resumed in 1929, and the second-generation clock tower—the building that remains one of Ginza's defining landmarks today—was completed in 1932.

Following the Second World War, the building was requisitioned by the Allied occupation forces. In 1947, Wako was established to inherit Hattori Tokeiten's retail operations and initially operated from temporary premises in Ginza 5-chome. After the clock-tower building was returned in 1952, Wako commenced business there on December 8 of that year.

This history explains why Wako's relationship with Seiko is considerably deeper than that of a conventional retailer. Wako itself grew directly from Hattori Tokeiten's retail business.

Over the decades, Wako has commissioned numerous small-production watches, including highly limited Grand Seiko models. Many of these watches incorporate classical typography and design details that distinguish them immediately from their regular-production counterparts.

The GZAR997 represents that philosophy within Credor. Produced in an extraordinarily small edition of just 30 pieces, it combines Credor's restrained dress-watch architecture with a dial configuration created specifically for Wako.
